Estimates

When planning a remodel how far out should you get estimates?

I am doing a bathroom remodel and have already talked to a contractor for a general ball park. I am a property manager so I have a good relationship with several contractors. I expect to have the money in Sept. It is a big job and will require permits. When should I start getting firm estimates? That does not help! Don't bother answering if you are just going to make a stupid comment. Nope- In Oregon, sorry.

  1. It dosen't matter. the project will come in way over budget and late.
  2. If you already have the contractors you will be using lined up let them know 1-2 months in advance. They will let you know their availabilities. Don't get the estimates too soon because they usually are only good for 30 days and then they can jack their prices up (depending on the contractor). If your in Arizona and need any tile work done please look at my website and send me an email if your interested in my work.
  3. ask the contractors how long their prices are good for usually three months
